Casting by Raina Kabaivanska’s master class for the opera „La bohème” by Giacomo Puccini

In connection with the 10th anniversary of Raina Kabaivanska’s Master Class a casting will be held for the parts in the opera „La bohème” by Giacomo Puccini. The opera will be performed in December 2010 at Sofia National Opera and in December 2011 at Teatro Comunale in Modena, Italy.

The project is managed by New Bulgarian University in conjunction with Sofia National Opera and Teatro Comunale in Modena.

The event is under the patronage of the Mayor of Sofia, Ms. Yordanka Fundukova, the Minister for Education, Youth and Science – Prof. Sergei Ignatov, and His Excellency Stefano Benazzo, Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria.
The performers chosen at the casting will be working on the roles together with Raina Kabaivanska during the 10th Anniversary Master Class, to be held 16 - 29 September 2010 in “Bulgaria” music hall, Sofia. The deadline for application is 13 September 2010. The audition of the applicants will be on 16 September 2010. The best participants will receive scholarships from New Bulgarian University’s „Raina Kabaivanska” Fund, procured by the “Àmerica for Bulgaria” foundation.

Eligible applicants for Raina Kabaivansa’s Master Class are performers with musical education from Bulgaria and abroad, not more than 32 years old. For the audition and for work during the Master Class the applicants have to present a repertoire of five arias.

On 30 September 2010 the participants in the Master Class will sing at the opening of the musical season in Sofia in a gala concert with the Sofia Philharmonic and with the special participation of Raina Kabaivanska.
