Raina Kabaivanska, called the DIVINE, is the most remarkable opera actress nowadays who preserved the traditions of Italian belcanto.

The debut of Kabaivanska in 1961 at Milan La Scala was the start of a brilliant career which goes through all world theatres – from Covent Garden - London, Grand Opera - Paris, Teatro Real - Madrid, the Methropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall in New York, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Hamburg State Opera, Deutsche Opera - Berlin, Sofia Opera and Ballet House, Moscow Bolshoi Theatre and Tokyo Opera. During her 55 years long career she played unforgettable parts covering extremely large repertoire – only Tosca was performed more than 400 times and the same number is valid for the part of Madama Butterfly. The media in Italy wonder – “After so many performances Raina Kabaivanska can still find again, for every next part a new gesture, a new sigh, a new glance and to reach such intensity that revives at certain moments her character”.

Especially active is Kabaibvanska’s career in Italy where she sings in all big theaters – Milan La Scala, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Arena di Verona, theatres in Turin, Genoa, Parma, Bologna, Modena and the Opera in Rome.

Partners of Kabaivanska on the stage are several generations of great tenors – Franco Corelli, Mario Del Monaco, Jon Vickers, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Cura, Mario Melanini, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Andrea Care.

In 2013 Raina Kabaivanska added to her numerous awards the International Award for Opera – Oscar for career, delivered by Teatro Comunale - Bologna, Italy.

For Bulgaria Raina Kabaivanska is a symbol not only of the opera art but also of the good and the spirit. Her performances at Sofia Opera and Ballet House will remain unforgettable with the crowds of people in front of the ticket offices and with totally excited admirers of her talent. Her concert with “the blue dress” in the beginning of 90-ties will be always emblematic as a symbol of liberty and democratic society in Bulgaria.

Master classes of Kabaivanska should be mentioned as another top of her achievements. She delivers her knowledge to the young opera singers in Italy (Academia Chigiana – Siena, Music Academy “Vecchi Tonelli” – Modena) and Bulgaria (New Bulgarian University – Sofia). “My teacher Zitta Fumagalli was a very generous woman, and I would like to return to the young people part of that goodness which she gave to me”- says Kabaivanska. Thus, gradually for the last 15 years was formed the School of Kabaivanska.

Going through the School of Kabaivanska many opera singers from all over the world achieved success and recognition at various opera theatres, festivals and competitions - in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, USA, Bulgaria etc. Their names are among the artists of Milan la Scala, the Macerata Festival, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Reggio in Turin, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Comunale in Modena, Teatro Reggio in Parma, the Napoli Teatro San Carlo, Arena di Verona, Sofia Opera and Ballet House, Hamburg State Opera, Deutsche Opera in Berlin, Chicago Opera Theatre.
