New Master Class of Raina Kabaivanska – top interpretations of her students

New Bulgarian University organizes in September (1-20), 2012 the XII-th International Master Class of Raina Kabaivanska. The deadline for applications is 27-th of August, 2012. The audition of applicants will take place on 1-st of September, on 20-th of September the best students will participate in a concert with the Sofia Opera and Ballet Orchestra and with the special participation of Raina Kabaivanska.

The event is under the patronage of the Minister of Education, Youth and Culture of Bulgaria and the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy in Bulgaria.

General sponsor of the event - America for Bulgaria Foundation, provides scholarships for training of young opera singers within the Raina Kabaivanska Fund at the NBU.

After the brilliant performance of Raina Kabaivanska scholarship students in the opera “La Boheme” – 8 times altogether on the stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet House in 2010 and 2011 and on the stage of Teatro Comunale “Luciano Pavarotti” in Modena, Italy in 2012, they will act in the opera “Werther” of Jules Massenet. This initiative is realized in partnership between the New Bulgarian University, the Sofia Opera and Ballet House and La Monnaie Royal Opera House – Brussels, Belgium as a part of the project “Raina Kabaivanska presents her students on the world opera stage”. Manager of the project is George Tekev – Executive Director of the NBU and producer of the Master Classes of Raina Kabaivanska in Bulgaria. The first performance of “Werther” will be on 7-th of December, 2012 on the stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet House with participation of Veronica Simeoni, Elisa Berbero, Mateo Ferrara, Aldo Caputto, Daniel Stefanov, Diana Vassileva.

Students of Raina Kabaivanska act successfully in prestigious opera theatres, participate in festivals and competitions in Germany, France, Italy, USA, Bulgaria. Some of their achievements are debuts in Milan La Scala, the Macerata Festival, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Reggio in Torino, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Comunale in Modena, Teatro Reggio in Parma, the Napoli Teatro San Carlo, Arena di Verona, Sofia Opera and Ballet House, Hamburg State Opera, Deutsche Opera in Berlin, Chicago Opera Theatre. They are winners in competitions like “Luciano Pavarotti” and “Viotti” in Italy and “The Queen Elizabeth” in Belgium. Students of Raina Kabaivanska with world career are: Maria Agresta, Veronica Simeoni, Andrea Carre, Daniel Stefanov, Maria Radoeva, Yasko Sato, Pritty Yende, Cristina Bagio etc.
Raina Kabaivanska is the President of the jury nominated for the prestigious opera competition in Sardzana. Among the winners who will have the opportunity to play the leading baritone part in specially prepared opera “Elixir of Love” by Gaetano Donizetti is Daniel Stefanov. He has a double success in the course of preparations during the Master Class – he was noticed by the manager of Juan Diego Florez and invited for audition in Milan.

Young opera singers – professionals up to 32 years, are eligible to apply for the Master Class of Raina Kabaivanska at the New Bulgarian University. For the audition applicants prepare a repertoire of 5 arias. The audition is held by Raina Kabaivanska in person who selects ten active participants. It is possible to admit additional number of listeners. The Master Class is open for audience. Selected students are assisted by rehearsal pianists and a teacher in Italian. Those who demonstrated remarkable achievements during the Master Class and the Gala Concert receive scholarships from the Raina Kabaivanska Fund.
