Raina Kabaivanska and her XIX-th International Master Class for young opera singers at New Bulgarian University in September. In April a star from her School will participate in “Requiem” by Verdi

Raina Kabaivanska will be in Sofia in September (10 - 29) for her XIX-th International Master Class for young opera singers, organized by New Bulgarian University. In forthcoming September the legendary opera actress will come to Bulgaria again to work with young opera talents from all over the world and to share with them her extraordinary stage and life experience.

 

Raina Kabaivanska will conduct the audition of the applicants personally on 10-th of September at Sofia Opera and Ballet House. The requirements for the applicant are to be professional musicians or students in a Music Academy at the age up to 32 years. They should prepare five arias of their choice. Registration is already active on www.rainakabaivanska.net and will be open till 6th of September. Kabaivanska will select from the applicants up to 12 singers for participation in her Master Class.

 

The Gala concert of the graduates from the Master Class will be on 29th of September at Sofia Opera and Ballet House. Then Raina Kabaivanska will announce the scholarships awarded from her Fund at New Bulgarian University. Through the years scholarship holders of the Fund became almost 90 young opera singers from Bulgaria and abroad. Some of them like: Andrea Carè, Veronica Simeoni, Vittoria Yeo, Virginia Tola, Maria Agresta, Maria Radoeva, Matteo Desole, Simon Lim, Selene Zanetti, Sofia Soloviy are now soloists at the most prestigious world opera theaters. Main supporters of Raina Kabaivanska Fund are organizations, institutions and persons with contribution to the development of her cause to continue the great tradition of the opera art – America for Bulgaria Foundation, Fantastico, Sofia Municipality.

 

On 25th of April the young star of the School of Kabaivanska - the South Korean soprano Vittoria Yeo, will participate in Verdi's “Requiem” at Sofia Opera and Ballet House. Vittoria Yeo has graduated from the University in Seoul and the Conservatory in Parma. Since 2010 she is working with Raina Kabaivanska in her Master classes at New Bulgarian University, Academia Chigiana in Siena and Vecchi-Tonelli Music Institute in Modena. Vittoria Yeo’s great success was in 2015 when Riccardo Muti invited her for the role of Elvira in "Ernani" within the world's most prestigious Salzburg Opera Festival. Their common work over the years continues with "Macbeth" and "Aida".

 

The solo performances of Yeo are in Rome Opera, Arena di Verona, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro del Maggio in Florence, Teatro Farnese in Parma, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and many others. In 2018/2019 season Maestro Muti and Vittoria Yeo present Verdi's “Requiem” with the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra in Chicago, Baden-Baden and within a big Asian tour. About her teacher Vittoria Yeo says: “She often repeated: “Sing! Be an Actress!” Being shy by nature I could not sing freely and easily – she encouraged me this way. She is a great actress on the stage and a true teacher who puts her heart into giving her students everything she knows. And she likes to witness their advancement and success.”
