The XV International Master Class of Raina Kabaivanska will take place in September (7-27), 2015 at New Bulgarian University.
Those who are interested to be included in the audition for the Master Class can register online in the official website of the world famous opera star. Eligible for the Master Class are professional musicians or students in a Music Academy at the age up to 32 years. They should prepare five arias for the competitive audition.
Audition of the applicants this year will take place at Sofia Opera and Ballet House on 7-th of September and will be conducted personally by Raina Kabaivanska. Ten young opera singers selected from all registered applicants will have the opportunity to work with Raina Kabaivanska on improving their vocal skills and actor’s interpretation as well as on preparation of new parts.
On 27-th of September, 2015 the best graduates of the Master Class will participate in a Gala concert with the Orchestra of Sofia Opera and Ballet House conducted by Maestro Nayden Todorov - a concert with the special participation of Raina Kabaivanska who will announce the scholarships awarded by her donation Fund.
Scholarships will be divided into three categories for continuing training with the great opera actress – for the Master Classes at New Bulgarian University, for the Master Class at Academia Chigiana in Siena, Italy and special one-year scholarships for the Music Academy “Vecchi Tonelli” in Modena, Italy.
The first Master Class of Raina Kabaivanska in Bulgaria took place at New Bulgarian University (NBU) in 2001. In 2002 the great Bulgarian opera actress sets up with her own resources a donation Fund at NBU designated to disburse scholarships for further training of young opera singers in Bulgaria and Italy. Through the years this Fund gained the support of persons and organizations like America for Bulgaria Foundation, Fantastico, Sofia Municipality, Alpha Bank etc. In 2014 in the Jubilee Charity Gala concert “Raina Kabaivanska presents Opera Stars” participated the most popular artists from her school who are nowadays stars in great world-famous opera theatres. Thus, they also became donors of Raina Kabaivanska Fund.
During the last 15 years Raina Kabaivanska continues to discover new talents and to contribute to their development and perfection through support of continuing training and promotion of their performance on the international opera stage. After graduating master classes of one of the most significant soprano voices in the world young opera singers had the chance to become holders of more than 60 scholarships and to enjoy entering the open door to the biggest opera stages in the world.
