Masterclass
In her Masterclass Raina Kabaivanska works on improving the vocal technique and actor’s interpretation of pieces chosen by participants themselves. The most successful graduates perform in a Gala concert with the orchestra of Sofia Philharmonic. The participants with the best achievements during the Masterclass and the Gala concert will be awarded scholarships from Raina Kabaivanska Fund at NBU for further training in Italy. Prominent participants in the Masterclass will also have the opportunity to participate in performances of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, concerts with Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and others.
Application requirements and guidelines for the participants
√ Eligible applicants are singers up to the age of 32 with a musical education or students at musical Academies and Universities;
√ Applicants should prepare five arias for the competitive audition.
√ The audition will be conducted personally by Raina Kabaivanska who will select ten active participants. Additional course attendants could be also admitted.
√ Trainees will be supported by rehearsal pianists and an Italian language teacher.
Participation in the season 2022/2023 of the Sofia Opera and Ballet
√ This year, during the MasterClass, Raina Kabaivanska will select young opera singers for the leading roles in a new production of opera "La Boheme".
√ The event is at the invitation of Sofia Opera and Ballet and is organized in colaboration with New Bulgarian University within the project "Kabaivanska School on the World Opera Stage".
Support for Ukraine
√ Applicants from Ukraine will be exempt from audition fees.
√ The MasterClass for any selected active participants and course attendants from Ukraine will be free of charges.
Application and participation fees:
• Audition: 25 euro
• Active participants: 150 euro
• Course attendants:75 euro
